LGBTQ-friendly shacharit service on July 23

“HINEH MA TOV U’MA NA’IM SHEVET ACHIM GAM YACHAD”
BEHOLD, HOW GOOD AND HOW PLEASANT IT IS FOR BRETHREN TO DWELL TOGETHER IN UNITY!
(Tehillim 133)

– 10 years –

It has already become a tradition throughout the past 10 years that at the Budapest Pride Festival, egalitarian Jewish communities jointly hold a service to declare support for the LGBTQ community. We stick to it in 2022 as well, at a Shabbat shacharit service, at 10.30 am, July 23, at JCC, Budapest.

10 years ago, the idea of such an event was first proposed and promoted by Armin Langer, then member of Sim Shalom Progressive Jewish Community. Since then, Armin, a scholar, activist and author of several books and many articles, was ordained a rabbi by the  Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, Pennsylvania, US. We are delighted to inform you that, during a short visit to Hungary in July, he will be participating in leading the service again.

The service is public and open for the Jewish and LGBTQ communities and all their friends.

Prayer will be led by Rabbi György Vári and Rabbi Armin Langer

Chazzan: Miklós Budai

Rabbi Katalin Kelemen of Sim Shalom Progressive Jewish Community will share her thoughts.
